I own a property near Green Gables and am writing to OBJECT to issuing a planning permit to Narconon for the application above.
Granting a permit to change the use from a conference centre to a drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre will negatively affect the value of my property.
Because of widely held fears and perceived safety concerns from potential purchasers or renters, the value of my property will decrease because less people will want to buy a home next to Narconon. Further, the potential rental return will be depressed, as parents with children abstaining from the local school and anyone who feels threatened by this facility may not want to rent my home. If the school is threatened, the amenity and general atmosphere of my community will also feel threatened. I will feel unsafe.
I also believe it is misleading and a lie to call the use an ‘education centre’ when in fact it will be a residential facility for up to 80 non medicated people in drug and alcohol withdrawal.
I request that you do not issue a permit for the reason above. I also request:
- I receive written confirmation of this objection.
- Correspondence about the progress of this permit and meetings I may attend.
